Fall Road Construction

Road construction to impact access to Woodbury Middle School
Posted on 08/19/2019
Road Work Road construction in the neighborhood around Woodbury Elementary and Woodbury Middle schools will continue to impact the flow of traffic in and out of School Drive for the start of the 2019-20 school year.

The City of Woodbury has been reconstructing Upper Afton Road and traffic impacts are expected to continue through the end of October. The remaining work will require closure of the west end of Upper Afton Road between Century Avenue and Esther Lane.

The top layer of pavement at the intersection of School Drive and Upper Afton Road is scheduled to be paved in early October. Access to School Drive will be open throughout construction from Weir Drive.

During construction, vehicles will not have access to the schools from Century Avenue. Signs will be placed on both sides of Upper Afton Road with road closure messages that will be updated as construction progresses.

To reduce congestion and delays, the city encourages students with bus service to use the provided busses to reduce the number of vehicles in the area. The city is also asking drivers to follow detour routes and avoid using residential neighborhood street to access the schools.

This construction is part of the City of Woodbury’s 2019 Roadway Rehabilitation Project. Learn more at the Roadway Rehabilitation web page. To receive project email updates from the city, visit woodburymn.gov/intouch.
